I have a stack of paintings that returned from the gallery
that I have decided to rework. So in the spirit of Mercury
retrograde (it goes on for 3 weeks) I am repainting them
using the original as an interesting under layer. Today's
painting is the first I have finished. I have three others in
different levels of being worked on. I love working over a
painting. It creates a visual of a painting that has really
been worked, which is one of my favorite things to see in
a painting.

I am a little frustrated with the way this picture is posting.
It looks blurry, so please click on the image to see it larger.

I agree, a painting that has many layers is interesting, many facets like a jewel...enjoy!

I am a great lover of layers. It gives a painting so much depth. I put down many layers before I paint my image on top. It shows my journey through the piece.

Katherine!

I almost gasped when you said you began painting over the pieces you got back from a gallery.

How brave of you!

Once I finish I painting I dare never go back to it again.

Is there a reason you wanted to rework this painting? Did you not like the way it originally looked or were inspired to add on to it?

Just curious.

Dean my work is constantly evolving and some of my work from as soon as a 6 months ago doesn't do it for me anymore. I have reworked some paintings over and over.
