What is the meaning of doing art for you?
Art is something I just have to do to feel normal.....or I end up
being miserable. The most important aspect for me is the
healing and spiritual aspect. Though I have always found
solace in my work it was only after losing my young daughter
to cancer that I realized the healing qualities of creating art.
It was my life saver then and many times since. I felt stronger
to deal with my emotions as well as the grief my family was
experiencing. I know without a doubt that it soothes and
balances me in a way that nothing else can. Just as one feels
relaxed and replenished after meditation, I feel the same way
after several hours of carving. Art is my meditation.

how fabulous to find one of my favorite artists featured on your blog Katherine - hello Robyn - your statement is wonderful and of course your art, well, beyond......
Your answers to Katherine's questions are so heartfelt and familiar sounding to me. I wonder how many of us absolutley require the healing powers of art. The comfort you seem to have found is evident in the warmth and glow of your woodcarving. Shells and forests often appear in my dreams, so your work evokes a deep response in me. I really enjoyed my visit to your blog.

What beautiful photos of work - rich enough to almost feel - on Robyn's website. Thank you for sharing her work with us here on your site!
I just discovered this project - how fascinating to hear what other artists think and feel. Robyn, you speak for me as well in talking about the healing power of creating art, of the balancing force.
Katherine, I'm looking forward to reading more, and seeing more of your work too.
Robyn's work is truly a reflection of her spirit! So wonderful to read her words here!
Thank you...
Beautifully put across. Robyn has expressed in words what I feel towards the act of drawing.
Katherine, thank you for this series. I think you have excellent taste in artists! The making of art is so much more than technique.
Jeane, Kathy and Dianna I want to give you all a great big thank you for consistently following and commenting on this project and my blog. I am a big fan of Robyn's work and having read her answer I understand the depth of beauty and soul that comes through in her work. To say nothing of Africa!!! Her blog and flickr always makes me want to go there.

Hi Katherine, Your series of artist's has been really interesting to read through! It's introduced me to some new folks and given me a deeper sense of connection to Robyn, as she's answered almost exactly as I might have myself! Thanks for bringing these fabulous people and their artful meaning to us :) Karin
Karin you are so welcome. I am enjoying the responses as much as everyone else. It is a calling that is being answered.
