The Grotto

I had a pretty good day in the studio. It's funny how
much of a struggle it is for me to create, but I do seem
to succeed ...at creating that is. Most of the time, I don't
really, honestly know how good I am at it. I am not
being falsely modest. I just feel like I am my own worst
judge. Not always, sometimes I hit it, and I know I have
hit it. But then again not everyone agrees with me even
then. I guess it all boils down to art is subjective. I am
always open to feedback so if any of you want to give
me an opinion feel free.

This painting is a repaint of an older painting. I love
doing that, making an old painting new.

I find, for my self at least, its easy to become over critical. Seeing the mistakes or weaker parts of of an image I create myself becomes like second nature. I find it becomes hard to see whats actually good in my own work. That doesn't mean that its not though, and i often have to remind myself that.

I hope that makes some sort of sense. Your work is really interesting and emotive and your use of colour breathtaking

I have always especially loved this painting, Katherine. Maybe it's the pink! Thank you so much for your comment on "Cathedral". I did feel that it was a bit of a break-through, as I did about "Moondance." I feel as if I'm finding a style I want to explore further. Summer vacation can't come soon enough for me. I took two paintings to a gallery last week and I have an appointment in a month to discuss representation. Keep your fingers crossed for me. Now, I have to just get enough work together!
